Dedicated Servers & Disks

NewServers™ operates a cloud of “Bare Metal” devices.  Granting access to the bare metal means that there is no software between you and the physical device.    Our system can setup these automatically when you request through our webapp or api.  There is no setup charge, you can cancel at any time, and you pay just for the hours that you use.

Datacenter

Our infrastructure is secured in NAP of the Americas, a Tier-IV facility with N+2 redundancy.  Physical access is only obtained after passing through a secured outside perimeter and several key internal security checkpoints.  The facilities are monitored by professional armed security staff, utilizing state of the art intrusion detection systems including the latest in recorded video surveillance.  Authorized staff must be screened and authenticated prior to entering the building, the internal NOC, and the data center floor.  All visitors and contractors are required to request access 24 hours in advance, are screened prior to entry, and continually escorted by authorized datacenter staff.  With NewServers™, not only can we provide the guarantee that your servers have physical security and controls, but we can be audited providing you the assurance of PCI, SOX, HIPAA and SAS 70 Type II facility compliance.

+ Bare Metal not VPS on shared servers

What's the difference? We provide dedicated servers with no restrictions and no sharing. You get the root or administrator password and exclusive control of the machine. Many infrastructure cloud environments are designed and built using virtualization hypervisors such as VMWare and Xen, which takes a radically different approach to processing and managing your private data. Processing can be moved from location to location, possibly with varying levels of physical and logical access controls. The architecture of those providers are not capable of providing strong assurances that virtual machines on a shared server using a hypervisor are in fact separated and immune from attacking one another and offer little visibility into their underlying technology. You can't audit what you can't see, and what you don't know can leave your organization open to significant exposure and risk. In a world and industry filled with regulation. Do you really want to add any additional vulnerabilities or liabilities?

Internet Transit
NewServers™ utilizes pure Internap bandwidth for
internet connectivity. Internap provides our customers direct
access to Savvis, Verio, GBLX, Level3, Verizon, AT&T, and Sprint. Internaps proprietary technologies (FCP, PNAP, and MIRO) reduce the routing inefficiencies experienced by other service providers who utilize only Border Gateway Protocol (BGP).

  + Local Area Network

Each customer is allocated their own static IP range and vlan.  Every server has a gigabit connection to a blade chassis switch.  The Dell 1855 (small and medium) chassis have a Dell 5316M switch.  The Dell m1000e (large, jumbo, and fast) chassis utilize a Dell m6220 switch. These switches are uplinked to our gigabit Cisco 3750G switch stack.  The router connecting the switch stack to Internap is a Cisco 7206 VXR with a NPG G2 processor module and 2 GB or RAM.  Our router is connected to Internap’s Cisco 7600 OSR by 2 pairs of multi mode fiber run separately

  + Servers

We use Dell enterprise blade servers with Intel processors. The large, fast, and jumbo servers are the latest DELL M600 blades running in M1000e enclosures with single and dual E5450 3 GHz Quad Core or E5405 2 GHz Quad Core cpus. The M600 servers include dedicated KVM over IP. The small and medium servers are DELL 1855 blades in 1855 enclosures with single or dual Xeon 2.8 and 3.2 GHz cpus.

  + Disks

With NewServers™ you can scale up to 64 TB on any server that has an iSCSI initiator. Storage is delivered in dedicated 250GB volumes consisting of two 250GB SATA hard drives in a hardware RAID 1 array.  These disks are available by the hour for $0.11.
When the disk is cancelled it is immediately wiped and formatted before becoming available for another customer.
+ Load Balancers

NewServers™ uses CAI Networks WebMux 480 to provide free hardware load balancing for all accounts with two or more servers.  Hardware load balancers use special purpose processors that can handle significantly more requests than software running on a server.

Bare Metal Images

Images are byte for byte copies of server hard drives.  Instead of setting up your applications each time you buy a server you can set them up once, create an image, and then write the image to many servers. Windows Server 2003 standard 64bit and Centos 5.5 64bit images are preinstalled. Upon request we can install any operating system including Unbutu, Solaris, Debian, RHEL and VmwareESX.

+ Application Programming Interface

All of the functionality of our webapp is also available through our XML over HTTPS API.  This can be used to manage, integration, and automate NewServers™ devices.
